Players from all around the league react to James’ decision to go back to Cleveland.
LeBron James has announced that he will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers next season and the decision has unsurprisingly led to widespread reaction on Twitter.
Having left the franchise back in 2010 to create the Big Three with the Miami Heat alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the 29-year-old went on to win two NBA championships in their four years together on South Beach.
However, after weeks of speculation and confusion over where he saw his future, he has finally announced that he will be returning to the Cavaliers where he undoubtedly has unfinished business.
A meeting with Heat team president Pat Riley wasn’t enough to convince James to return to Miami next season, with the Akron, Ohio native citing his relationship with the area more important than basketball which ultimately swung him in favour of going back.
Welcome Home @kingjames. I am excited for the fans and people of Cleveland and Ohio. No fans and people deserve a winner more than them…..

Both Wade and Bosh also decided to opt out of their deals and their futures remain unclear, although it is expected that Wade will likely remain in Miami while Bosh could be tempted by the maximum-level contract offer from the Houston Rockets.
It is undoubtedly a difficult time for the Heat as an organisation as they must now explore their options to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavaliers fans can rejoice at what promises to be a fascinating season next year.
James will definitely play alongside point guard Kyrie Irving, recent No.1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins and a whole host of other talented youngsters, while reports suggest that Kevin Love is also on the radar.
Regardless of whether or not Love arrives, James will certainly transform the franchise back into a playoff regular, and it remains to be seen whether or not he can inspire them enough to ensure that they end their long wait for a championship.
I am shocked & disappointed in today's news. However I will never forget what Lebron brought us for 4 years. Thanks for memories @KingJames
