Is this any way to treat a club legend?
Chelsea are not planning any special welcome for returning midfielder Frank Lampard for this weekend’s game against Manchester City, CaughtOffside reports.
The 36-year-old left the Blues in the summer after thirteen great years at Stamford Bridge, but his decision to sign for rivals City on loan from MLS side New York City FC has not gone down well with some fans.
Lampard has previously stated that he did not initially plan to make the move to City, but that it was hard to turn down an offer to play in the Premier League after Chelsea neglected to offer him a new contract.
The former England international is Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer and has won a whole host of honours with the Londoners, but it seems he will not be welcomed back in the way that the likes of Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack have been when returning with new clubs in recent years.
