Groves joins likes of Kessler and Price on Sauerland books.
George Groves has signed a long-term promotional contract with Sauerland in the build-up to his highly-anticipated rematch with domestic rival Carl Froch.
The British pair face off at Wembley on May 31, and while Groves has previously been promoted by Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, he now joins the likes of Mikkel Kessler and British heavyweight David Price at the German-based company.
With less than two weeks until the WBA and IBF world super-middleweight title showdown in front of 80,000 fans, Groves revealed his delight with securing a deal with Sauerland and looks forward to them helping him build his name across Europe and beyond.
“I am extremely pleased to have signed with Team Sauerland,” Groves said. “I have boxed on their shows in the past and have known Kalle and Nisse (Sauerland) for years. The shows they put on in Europe are phenomenal.
“This is definitely a step in the right direction for me as I look to build my name not only across Europe but all around the world. I feel that now I have the right team in place to help me achieve everything I need to in boxing.”
Kalle Sauerland revealed that he was “proud” to have won the race to sign Groves and is confident that he will be able guide one of the “most exciting talents on the planet” forward as he looks to write boxing history.
Much will depend on the result of the May 31 showdown, with the winner of that encounter expected to go on and face James DeGale who features on the undercard at Wembley against Brandon Gonzales.
