If you fancy a bet this weekend you could do worse than sticking your money on England to beat France this weekend. That’s because Sonny Wool – a psychic sheep no less – has predicted that the Red Rose will triumph over Les Bleus.
If that last sentence sounded rather ridiculous that’s because it is but nevertheless it happens to be true (though whether Sonny Wool is indeed blessed with second sight has not yet been scientifically confirmed). This particular member of New Zealand’s second favourite animal species (the Kiwi currently sits in top spot, of course) has so far called each of the All Blacks games in the competition correctly by eating from one of two bowls of food, with each one bearing the flag of the two teams in question.
‘Paul the Octopus’ gained notoriety during the 2010 FIFA World Cup for correctly predicting each of Germany’s matches during the tournament as well as the final so if you want to continue to place your faith in creatures with access to a crystal ball then perhaps an accumulator featuring England, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa – all Sonny Wool’s selections – could be the path to riches.
