An expensive flop for Man United, Angel di Maria appears to be on his way out. How much can the Red Devils get for the star attacker?
Man United may have received an offer they simply won’t be able to turn down for overpriced attacker Angel Di Maria.
According to the Daily Star, Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain have offered the Red Devils £35m in cash as well as defensive ace Gregory van der Wiel in a swap deal for Di Maria. Man United boss Louis van Gaal has a history with van der Wiel, having coached the 27-year-old Dutchman on the Netherlands national team and attempting to recruit him while he was the manager of Bayern Munich in 2010.
The Daily Star noted, however, that Man United’s pursuit of Matteo Darmian could diminish the value of PSG’s offer, since the Roma defender is considered a better overall prospect than van der Wiel.
Man United purchased Di Maria for a Premier League-record £59.7 million last Summer but scored just three goals for the club as they finished a distant 4th on the league table. Di Maria later injured his hamstring during the 2015 Copa America Final against Chile.
