The Chicago Bulls take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, without Derrick Rose, hoping to extend their winning streak on the road.
Rose will sit out his second straight game with a hamstring injury as the Bulls look ahead to playing seven games on their road trip over the next 15 days.
However, having won all five of their games away from the United Center so far this season, they will hope to continue that form and take back their spot at the top of the Eastern Conference after the Toronto Raptors leapfrogged them over the weekend.
Nevertheless, in order to do that they will have to improve defensively, as despite Tom Thibodeau being renowned for moulding his teams to be defensive stalwarts, the Bulls have fallen way short of their usual high standards as their offensive production improves.
Chicago have been badly out-rebounded in games and that was one area that allowed a depleted Indiana Pacers team to secure a shock win at the UC even without the likes of Paul George, David West and George Hill.
The absence of Rose will be a loss as the explosive point guard averages 31.7 points and 11.7 assists in his last three meetings with the Clippers, but he hasn’t faced them since December 2011.
Jimmy Butler is averaging a team-high 26.3 points per game and will need to lead the offensive charge, while on the other side of the court, Blake Griffin is averaging 26.3 points per game against the Bulls, his highest against any opponent.
Los Angeles have won the last four meetings by an average of 20.5 points, and so the Bulls look up against it if they are to start their long road swing with a win.
