Jose Mourinho is crying out for a new striker, but arguably needs a new central midfielder, too…
Jackson Martinez – FC Porto
The Colombian striker was linked to Chelsea at the end of November by the Express, and could be a £30m target when the transfer window reopens.
It’s no secret that Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in a a top level forward, after his three strikers Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba have only managed a measly five league goals between them. The Portuguese boss has even admitted that his side’s struggle to ‘kill’ teams off could cost them the title, so if a striker is available in January, the likelihood he is that he’ll push for a transfer.
Martinez could fit the bill perfectly. Since arriving from South America in 2012, the 25-year-old has been prolific, scoring 49 in 64 matches. This term he’s scored 15 in all competitions already, and could definitely provide the Blues with the cutting edge they currently lack.
