FC Porto star Alvaro Pereira is determined to move to Chelsea and will do whatever it takes to make the tramsfer happen.
The Portuguese newspaper A Bola has reported the Uruguay international has his heart set on a move to Stamford Briudge and is furious with the club for demanding such a high transfer fee. The Blues have made a £16.6m bid and have reportedly increased that offer to around £20m but have seen both rejected as Porto hold out for the full £26m stipulated in the release clause in his contract.
Porto have no financial need to sell having received £35m for Radamel Falcao, after his transfer to Atletico Madrid, as well as the £13m compensation that Chelsea paid them for new boss Andre Villas-Boas. Club president Jorge Pinto da Costa is also angry with the Londoners for initially courting Villas-Boas without permission and has has a personal vendetta against them, disparaging his former manager’s departire by claiming that Chelsea are ‘not a big club’.
However, Pereira is not prepared to be a political pawn and pulled out of the UEFA Super Cup clash against Barcelona on Friday so as not to jeopardise any transfer and the 25-year-old will maintain that stance should the impasse continue.
