Inter Milan are plotting to relieve Chelsea of star striker Didier Drigba before the close of the transfer window.
Reports in the Italian press are claiming that the muscular Ivory Coast hitman is wanted by manager Gian Piero Gasperini as he seeks to build a new look front line. Samuel Eto’o seems destined to move to big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for at least £20m although both clubs are still negotiating over the size of the fee and Wesley Sneijder could be set for a £30m switch to Mancheter United. Should both transfers go through, the Nerazzurri will have a significant budget with which to go shopping.
Drogba has been identified as a target as Inter believe he could be convinced to move to the San Siro with the propect of regular first team football, something that could be rare given the presence of Fernando Torres and latest Stamford Bridge arrival Romelu Lukaku. Chelsea would like to retain his services but the prospect of getting a a fee of over £10m for a 33-year-old while simultaneously removing a salary in excess of £100,000 per week from their wage bill could prove tempting especially with the introduction of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play directives.
The Serie A club are also looking at Manchester City’s wantaway forward Carlos Tevez and his Argentine compatriot Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid as potential options though it is believed the club would be looking to sign two of the three players if successful in their bids.
