Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole will commit his future to the club by signing a new deal, ending speculation he will quit Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the 30-year-old has been the subject of speculation linking him with a big-money move to mega-rich Anzhi Makhachkala or long-term admirers Barcelona.
The England international is out of contract at the end of next season, and has reportedly indicated he is ready to extend his stay in west London by signing a new two-year deal.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas Boas has been impressed with Cole since his arrival in the summer, and is keen to tie him down to a lengthy contract.
Meanwhile, the Mirror also report that team-mate Didier Drogba’s future may not be so certain, after claiming contract talks have broken down after the Ivorian ace rejected a one-year extension, and is demanding two more years.
However, coach Villas Boas is blessed with several options up front, and it is believed that the former Marseille striker is set to quit the club this summer.
