The Carolina Panthers have announced that fullback Mike Tolbert was placed on injured reserve/designated for return, which will keep him out at least eight weeks, after he suffered a hairline fracture in his leg in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers.
DeAngelo Williams could return this week after missing the last two with a hamstring. Jonathan Stewart left the game last week with what coach Ron Rivera called a “severe sprain” of his knee, pending an MRI.
The team signed linebacker D.J. Smith to fill his roster spot.
