Bayern Munich defender Breno has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire broke out at his house causing over a million euros worth of damage.
Breno, 21, was alone in the house when the fire broke out but managed to escape and has been admitted to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The Munich Prosecutor’s office held the Brazilian on suspicion of grave arson after the blaze, while he, his wife and their three children have been re-housed by Bayern.
In a short statement on the club’s official website: “We are surprised by the new situation that Breno will now be investigated. As we do not have any further information we cannot make any other comment.”
Breno joined the club from Sao Paulo in 2008 and represented his country at the 2008 Olympics.
