Barcelona’s star-studded strike-force are starting to pick up some momentum…
Lionel Messi and Neymar scored twice each on Saturday as Barcelona beat Elche 6-0 to move into second place in La Liga. After the game, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu told reporters that he believed his strike force to be the best in the world.
Bartomeu, who was quoted by Goal.com, said after the game: “We have the best attack in the world.”We demonstrated that again in this game. We have a very powerful attack.”
The president also spoke out in defence of leading scorer Lionel Messi, who he believes plays for the team rather than for his own statistics, despite scoring 31 goals in 31 games for club and country this term.
“Messi plays for the team, he doesn’t look at statistics or goals,” he added. “We are improving in the second half of the season and we are growing in confidence at an important part of the campaign.”
