Wenger suggested that the Premier League giants could come unstuck during the busy Christmas period as they each gear up for three games in the space of six days.
As it stands, the Premier League title looks as though it could be heading to either Chelsea or Manchester City, but Wenger has warned that that could change as his side look to catch up in a 15-point deficit.
“Let’s see how the schedule goes over Christmas,” said the Frenchman when asked whether if it was only Chelsea and City in the title equation.
“It can still change. We’ll have a much better idea at the beginning of January.
“That’s why I say, ‘let’s wait’. The next three or four games are important. Chelsea will be in the fight for the title, for sure.
“Will it only be Chelsea and Man City? Today you can say maybe, but it is still a long way.
“Chelsea plays Champions League, Man City do as well. Then you have the FA Cup and Chelsea play in the League Cup. There is still a lot to go.
“But what is for sure, the teams like us, and around us, need to be massively consistent to have a chance to come back.”
