Arsenal hope to resurrect the transfer of Juan Mata by including Carlos Vela on loan as part of the deal.
The young Mexican striker’s agent has indicated a temporary switch to the Mestalla could be on the cards, with two other teams from La Liga also considering taking Vela for a season.
“I’m going to fly to London to finalise things with Arsenal,” said Vela’s representative Eduardo Hernandez.
“We have three teams in Spain that have made offers and we think that playing in Spain would be a good move for Carlos.
“Arsenal are happy for him to go out on loan and we hope to find a solution by next week.”
If Arsenal can sign Juan Mata, Jadson, Gary Cahill and Scott Dann using the £60m expected from Barcelona – and possibly still have change left over – perhaps they will have done rather well out of the summer transfer window after all.
