Arsenal have joined the race for Caen wonderkid M’Baye Niang.
The 16-year-old is a regular for the Ligue 1 side despite being just 16 years old and his prodigious rise has led to comparisons with Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney who exploded onto the scene at the same age with a sensational winning goal for Everton against the Gunners.
Niang has featured in each of Caen’s games this season and has already drawn the attention of Real Madrid. The Spanish club’s director of football is no less a figure than Zinedine Zidane and he recently expressed an interest in bringing the teenager to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Prior to Zizou’s interest both Tottenham and Liverpool had made enquirires over the forward’s availability though no concrete offer has been made by either club which has left the door opem for Arsenal to swoop with their new found wealth following the departures of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy.
