Arsenal rumours
Although reports suggest the 22-year-old recently looked all set for a £5m switch to White Hart Lane ahead of next season, it now seems that Arsenal are hoping to swoop to sign him instead, with Arsene Wenger still keen to improve his options at the back for next term.
With senior centre-back Per Mertesacker a little off-form this season, the Gunners brought in Brazilian ace Gabriel from Villarreal in the January transfer window, and further defensive reinforcements could come when the market opens for business in the summer.
Wimmer looks a hugely promising talent who could add something to this Arsenal squad, and the Daily Mirror reports that Spurs now face missing out on him.
Supposedly, Mertesacker himself has played a role in convincing Wimmer to make the move to Arsenal instead of Tottenham.
