Arsenal will make a concerted effort to sign Bolton’s Gary Cahill desite the two club’s having seemingly reached an impasse last week over the matter.
The Trotters were furious at what they considered to be a ‘derisory’ £6m offer for the England international. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been insistent that the bid was much more than that though refused to reveal the amount and the barbs have been flying between the Reebok Stadium and the Emirates.
However, business is business and the Sunday Mirror are reporting that Wenger will put personal differences aside and return with a more palatable offer. With continual fitness doubts surrounding Thomas Vermaelen and question marks over Laurent Koscielny, Arsenal are prepared to part with £15m to land Cahill.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has been determined not to lose his star man but with the player having entered the last year of his contract and showing little prospect of signing a new deal, the sale will almost certainly be sanctioned at that price.
