Liverpool have not bid for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill – despite rumours to the contrary.
His manager Owen Coyle says there is “no foundation” in the story that Liverpool are interested, and whether Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish will invest in a central defender this summer remains unclear.
However, it is believed that Arsenal are interested, and Arsene Wenger is waiting to see if he can use the funds from selling Cesc Fabregas before he makes a bid.
Bolton Wanderers are quite naturally loathe to sell their star player, and this transfer saga is expected to drag on for a while yet.
