Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell from Deportivo Saprissa.
The transfer has been in the works for quite some time, but was only officially confirmed today.
Campbell’s arrival makes the Arsenal strikeforce an interesting one.
The sheer class of Robin van Persie cannot be argued, but should he be injured, Arsene Wenger must turn to the inanimate Marouane Chamakh or wantaway Nicklas Bendtner in his place, with Carlos Vela on loan at Real Sociedad.
Theo Walcott is still played on the right flank the majority of the time, meaning perhaps Campbell will be thrown straight into the first team.
Campbell will not take part against Liverpool, but could be thrown into first team action sooner rather than later.
