You might not have heard of Matias Urbano.
However, the Argentina forward scored a remarkable “rabona” goal for Union la Calera against Union San Felipe – and has become something of a YouTube sensation as a result.
Using the trick invented by the retired Italian Ascoli forward Giovanni Roccotelli, Urbano wraps one leg around the other to volley the ball quite brilliantly into the back of the net.
“In every game the fans begged me to do it, they expected it,” said Roccotelli in one of his more recent interviews.
“For me it was a natural thing. I began crossing like this when I was very little. When I was called up for a national side by [Enzo] Bearzot I remember that I even scored two goals this way in Campania.
“At least I did one thing before all the others … now they call this move ‘rabona’ because Ronaldo did it, but Pele himself said in an interview that he remembered an Italian doing it before him: that was me.”
Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo and Pele would certainly be impressed with Urbano’s effort.
