Juventus followed up their win over Manchester City with a 2-0 victory over Sevilla in their Group D clash in Turin on Wednesday night.
Alvaro Morata made it seven goals in his last nine Champions League appearances, and became the first player for the Bianconeri since Alessandro Del Piero to score in five consecutive games in Europe’s premier competition with this headed effort.
The Spaniard bagged the winner at the Etihad Stadium on matchday one with a sensational effort that eluded Joe Hart, and he helped ensure his side picked up maximum points again to leave them alone at the top of the table as Simone Zaza secured the win with a late strike after coming off the bench.
While the Turin giants now face back-to-back games against Borussia Monchengladbach, it leaves them with a perfect opportunity to cement their place at the top of the standings with Sevilla and City battling it out next month.
Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri will be fully aware of the threat that Monchengladbach pose and will not underestimate them, but the Italian tactician will undoubtedly be delighted with the start that his side have made in Europe after making the final of the competition last season.
However, he will now hope to take that form and apply it domestically with the Serie A champions lacking consistency so far this season which has left them well off the pace in the league.
The Bianconeri are currently in 15th place after claiming just five points in their opening six games of the campaign, as they welcome Bologna to the Juventus Stadium this weekend.
