The 49ers placed NT Ian Williams on the PUP list in hopes that he can finish his recovery in time for the 2014 season.
On Friday the San Francisco 49ers placed contributing Nose Tackle Ian Williams on the PUP (physically under to perform) list as a result of his slow recovery from a broken leg suffered in September 2013.
The 49ers will be able to take him off the list if and when Williams is able to resume football activities. If Williams is removed after the start of the season, he will be ruled inactive for at least 6 games.
Williams broke his left leg on a low block during his first career start in a game against the Seahawks. Now in his fourth year in the league, he was initially projected to be the backup to starting DT Glenn Dorsey.
