Tottenham go into their game against Burnley sitting in seventh place in the Premier League with an outside chance of Champions League qualification, sitting eight points behind fourth placed Manchester City who play on Monday.
They face a Burnley side who yesterday dropped to 18th place, but will go level on points with Sunderland with a draw, albeit possibly temporarily.
Here’s how Spurs are expected to start:
GK – Michel Vorm
Hugo Lloris took a nasty bang on the shin against Leicester and needed stitches for the gash it caused. This game may well come too early for him, though Vorm should be an adequate replacement.
DR – Kyle Walker
Kyle Walker’s attacking threat is undeniable, his pace can strike fear into the hearts of defenders up and down the country. He has come under criticism for his actual defending ability though, going missing far too often.
CB – Jan Vertonghen
Vertonghen’s experience will be vital against a side like Burnley, struggling to avoid relegation. Their attackers will try every trick in the book to get one up on their opponents, especially in front of a vociferous home crowd at Turf Moor.
CB – Eric Dier
The young centre-back will need to up his physicality and not be afraid to stick his head where it hurts. A game against a side scrapping for their lives will be a real test of his mettle.
DL – Danny Rose
Another attacking full-back who will need to be on his game and willing to track back to make sure he isn’t exposed defensively. Rose has grown into his role in the Tottenham team, but has occasionally been shaky.
