Arsenal signal interest in signing South American goal machine after striker indicates he could leave his current club.
Arsenal and Chelsea are among teams monitoring the situation of Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, who is reportedly unhappy in the French Capital.
The Uruguayan forward only moved to Parc des Princes in the summer, but despite his status as the joint leading scorer in Ligue 1, the Daily Express claim that he feels that the team has been built around Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
As a result, Cavani is considering his options and sounding out other clubs for a potential move, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on his list.
However, given that the 26 year-old is reluctant to drop his wage demands for a move elsewhere, few teams in world football will be able to afford to fund both the monstrous transfer fee required to entice him from PSG and his colossal wages.
With Olivier Giroud Arsenal’s clear first choice striker, having started almost every first team fixture so far, it would be unsurprising if his manager Arsene Wenger entered the January transfer market – and the Express report that the Gunners were the first team to signal their interest once Cavani put out feelers.
Although Chelsea could certainly do with a top forward, Jose Mourinho has indicated that he does not expect to enter the January market, while Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini appears content with his current strikeforce.
