The Argentine believes he should be the best paid player in the world.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi wants to be given a pay rise to make the 26-year-old the best paid player in the world ahead of Neymar and Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Punto Pelota.
Currently Messi earns €10.5m-a-year in wages from Barca, including €3m more in incentives for winning La Liga, the Champions League or the Copa Del Rey.
Last season the Argentina international took home €11.5m, but that is still someway short of what Neymar and Ronaldo are cashing in.
The Brazilian is said to be paid €17m annually since making the £48.6m move to the Nou Camp this summer, whilst the Portuguese star is set to make €18m-a-year from Madrid if the forward signs a new deal in the Spanish capital.
Therefore Messi thinks – as four-time Ballon D’Or winner and widely considered as the best player on the planet – that the South American should be receiving closer to €20m.
The attacker is once again in fine form for the Catalans this season and has already bagged five league goals in two league matches.
The Argentine’s record for Barca is almost superhuman as the forward has scored 315 goals in 378 matches for the club in all competitions since being promoted from the youth academy.
Messi also has also struck 36 times in 74 caps for the national team and is regarded by some to be the greatest player of all time.
