Red Devils lead chase for promising youngster.
Manchester United are seemingly at the front of the queue to sign Penarol youngster Kevin Mendez ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old forward has attracted rave reviews this season, and Louis van Gaal is said to be a big fan of the player dubbed ‘the new Luis Suarez’.
Although United have largely spent big on ‘Galactico’-style signings during the Dutchman’s reign so far, it seems the club are still keen to invest in youth as well.
Mendez looks an exciting prospect and could be a great capture for United if they do beat off competition for his signature this January.
