The Manchester United man hinted at a move to Stamford Bridge for the forward…
Manchester United star Angel Di Maria believes that Barcelona ace Lionel Messi would have no trouble playing under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, reports the Daily Mirror.
However, he also claimed that the four time Ballon d’Or winner would find it hard to leave the Catalan club because he grew up playing for them. The 27-year-old was linked to a move away from the Nou Camp in January amongst reports of a rift with manager Luis Enrique. However, nothing ever materialised from the rumours.
Now his Argentina teammate believes that were he ever to move to Stamford Bridge that the forward would fit right in under current manager Mourinho. This is despite them once being fierce rivals when the Portuguese was in charge at Real Madrid.
“I don’t think Messi would have any problem working with Mourinho,” Di Maria is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
“But in principle, I don’t think Leo wants to leave Barcelona. It’s hard to walk away from a club that’s given you everything, where you effectively grew up.”
