Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne was the hero for his side on Sunday night as his double helped them to a 4-0 win over AC Milan.
The Italian international has been in sensational form so far this season, and this effort after linking up with Gonzalo Higuain was particularly impressive.
Insigne added a second to the game with a stunning free-kick which evaded the desperate hand of Diego Lopez, while Allan and a Rodrigo Ely own goal compounded Milan’s misery.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men appeared to have put their troubles behind them after back-to-back wins last month, but their good work has been undone in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Napoli face Fiorentina on October 18 in what should be a thrilling encounter between two of the in-form sides in Serie A, but both teams will have to wait until after the international break to lock horns.
Elsewhere in Serie A in Week 7, champions Juventus got back to winning ways to ease the pressure building on them following a disappointing start to the campaign.
Roma bounced back from their disappointment in the Champions League in midweek, while Inter were held by Sampdoria in a thrilling game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
However, Fiorentina lead the way in Italy’s top flight after another impressive win as Paulo Sousa’s side continue to set the pace with some excellent football.
