World Cup hero ready to save the Knicks next season…
Everton and USA goalkeeper Tim Howard has jokingly enquired as to whether or not the New York Knicks have room for him for next season.
The 35-year-old became a national hero after his performances in Brazil and given his frame and athleticism there is plenty to suggest that he would be a force on the defensive end on the basketball court.
With towering center Tyson Chandler gone to the Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks could well find a man of Howard’s stature useful, and he has asked whether or not they would have the requisite cap space to bring him in next year.
While he is obviously not planning on making the switch from football, or ‘soccer’, any time soon, it is intriguing to ask as to whether or not he would be capable of making the transition across sports given his characteristics.
The image was of course taken as part of the promotional work ahead of the Knicks’ visit to the UK in 2013 as part of the NBA’s Global Games that season, but it hasn’t stopped people from discussing whether or not he would be useful at Madison Square Garden.
