He thinks David Moyes would have been told to leave Old Trafford by now…
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has claimed that if David Moyes been in charge of Manchester United this season he would have been sacked months ago, reports the BBC.
The 57-year-old believes that Louis van Gaal is at fault for the stuttering results and disappointing style of play at Old Trafford this season. The Dutchman has been criticised for his tendency to play key stars out of position and a reluctance to give youngsters more time in the first team ahead of established squad members.
The pundit said, “I find Man Utd very pedestrian and that’s the first time in a long time you could say that about a Manchester United team. I think it’s the coach and the way that he wants to play. Di Maria came in, and the first few games you thought ‘wow, what a player.’ He keeps changing his position. Everybody keeps changing in this search for a particular way.”
He added, “He’s brought one or two of the kids in, simply not good enough. I’m not saying they’re not good enough to be professional footballers or play in the Premier League but not good enough for what Manchester United need. It goes back to the manager and if that had been David Moyes he’d have gone weeks ago, nay months.”
