Blues defender comes under attack from ex-England colleague.
Rio Ferdinand has branded Chelsea captain John Terry an ‘idiot’ in a scathing attack on the former England defender in his autobiography, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The former Manchester United centre-back, now of Queens Park Rangers, has revealed that he has not spoken to his one-time England defensive partner since the infamous race row involving him and his brother Anton Ferdinand a couple of years ago.
Terry was accused of racially abusing Ferdinand’s younger brother, and the veteran defender has now criticised Terry for the way he handled the matter.
“For me, the biggest idiot will always be John Terry,” he said. “As England captain and my centre-back partner he could have saved everyone a lot of pain by admitting immediately he used the word in the heat of the moment, but was no racist.
“I think that’s probably what happened and what the truth is. Anton and I would’ve accepted that – instead he never gave us a chance.
“I’ve never actually spoken to John about the case. I no longer talk to him, but even three years later I find it impossible to forgive or forget the pain he put us through.”
