Who saw this coming? With Gareth Bale dominating the headlines, Spurs’ pursuit of Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue appears to have slipped under the radar.
But the 25-year-old defensive midfielder is set to sign for Spurs, according to Olivier Sadran, president of the Ligue 1 club.
France football’s Dan Levy (not to be confused with the Tottenham chairman of the same name) said the France international will cost Spurs €10m (£8.5m), while Football365.fr reported that the player had rejected Cardiff City in favour of a move to White Hart Lane.

Capoue spent most of last season in a deep-lying midfield role but can also operate at centre-half.
Spurs have already spent £17m on Brazil international midfielder Paulinho this summer.
