David Luiz and Robin Van Persie make the team, which somehow includes Real Madrid reserve stopper Iker Casillas…
FIFPro’s Communications Director Andrew Orsatti published the reserve XI on his Twitter on Tuesday, one day after the first team was announced.
Bizarrely, Iker Casillas was voted as the world’s second best keeper, despite making only three La Liga appearances during 2013.
Elsewhere, Premier League trio David Luiz, Yaya Toure and Robin Van Persie made the team. While the latter two enjoyed exceptional calendar years, Luiz was in and out of the Chelsea side, and perhaps only was voted in because of his impressive Confederations Cup campaign with Brazil.
Reserve FIFPro XI:
Casillas (Real Madrid), David Luiz (Chelsea), Pique (Barcelona), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Alaba (Bayern Munich); Ozil (Arsenal), Bale (Real Madrid), Y.Toure (Manchester City); Neymar (Barcelona), Falcao (Monaco), Van Persie (Manchester United).
