Max Aarons is fast becoming one of the most talked about young players in the country at the moment.
Despite only being 21 years of age and playing his football in the Championship with Norwich City, barely a day goes by without Aarons’ name popping up in the transfer rumour mill.
An exciting, attack-minded right-back, Aarons very much fits the bill in terms of what top clubs look for in the full-back positions in the modern game. After the success of the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James and others, Aarons could be the next big thing in that position.
But what club will that be at? The England Under-21 international surely won’t be staying at Norwich for much longer, that’s for sure, but how to predict where he’ll end up next? Even if you prefer to place a bet on the Grand National 2021, it could also be tempting to back one of these sides for Aarons’ next move…
Barcelona
Yep, this young defender is turning heads at the Nou Camp apparently, even though Norwich have previously responded to this speculation by insisting they wouldn’t sell him – even for £100million! In fairness, a fee of more like £35m has since been mentioned, and might be more realistic.
Arsenal
With some doubts over Hector Bellerin’s future, we might see Aarons at Arsenal next, though they’re also being linked with Tariq Lamptey as an option in that position. We imagine Gunners fans would be very happy with either of those.
Manchester United
There’s been recent talk of Man Utd perhaps being favourites for Aarons, but it remains to be seen how much they might fork out for him when they only recently spent big on Aaron Wan-Bissaka in that area of the pitch as well. The Norwich youngster is a more attack-minded option, however, so could be seen as an upgrade on their current first choice.
Bayern Munich
For a while, it looked like Bayern Munich were leading the chase for Aarons’ signature, but then further reports suggested they’d cooled their interest in the right-back. This might be one to look out for again though.
Tottenham
Finally, reports today are strongly linking Aarons to Tottenham, with the north Londoners supposedly already in advanced negotiations over a move. It would be some coup by Spurs if they could beat some big names to this exciting signing.
Sorry Norwich fans, but with so much apparent interest in Aarons, it might be a bit of a long summer at Carrow Road this year!
