West Ham set to seal signing of former England winger.
West Ham are confident they can beat QPR to the permanent signing of Joe Cole from Liverpool, and want him back at Upton Park by the weekend FA Cup tie with Manchester United.
The midfielder has endured a torrid two and a half years since leaving Chelsea, and was farmed out on a season-long loan deal to Lille last season.

The bad news just keeps on coming for QPR.
Days after R’s boss Harry Redknapp admitted that he would love to sign Liverpool’s Joe Cole, it looks likely that the 31-year-old will join London rivals West Ham.
The choice between a reunion with Redknapp, who managed the former England star at Upton Park, or a return to the club where he started his career must have been made easier by QPR’s dismal league position.
The Hoops are bottom of the Premier League, currently 8 points adrift of safety, and their hopes of beating the drop are decreasing by the week.
West Ham by contrast are comfortably mid-table and their decent early season form should help to ensure their Premier League status for another season, barring the most monumental of collapses.
Cole may have endured a dismal two-and-a-half years since joining Liverpool from Chelsea but the midfielder will still feel he is capable of playing at the top level and the threat of the drop at Loftus Road will surely outweigh the attraction of playing under the manager who handed him a full debut, aged just 18.
Despite Sam Allardyce’s reputation as a long-ball specialist, West Ham have played with plenty of width and creativity this season and Cole, who can play on the left or through the middle would be a good fit at Upton Park.
