West Coast small defender Jamie Bennell has agreed to terms with the club for the next two seasons, report AFL.com.au.
Bennell played 19 games for the Eagles in 2014 and has shown himself to be one of the league’s best bargain pick ups after the Eagles put him on its rookie list after he was delisted by Melbourne at the end of 2012 after four seasons and 57 games.
The small defender spent 2013 recovering from a knee reconstruction from an injury he suffered at Melbourne.
Bennell returned with Swan Districs in the WAFL, and following his good form the Eagles elevated him to the senior list in the 2013 National Draft.
The 24-year-old’s good performances against some of league’s best small forwards this season showed his importance to the Eagles as the club pushes for finals football in 2015.
