Finals hopes of Dons dealt a blow by massive home loss.
The premiership credentials of the Essendon Bombers have been called into question after their 53-point loss at the hands of the West Coast Eagles at Etihad Stadium.
With speculation the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority will release their report into the medical practices of the club soon, the pressure may be starting to show in the field.
As good as the Eagles the Bombers were not, as they went down 18.12 (120) to 9.13 (67) with the loss the latest to one of the top sides in the competition, just three weeks out from the finals.
Mark LaCras was deadly in front of goal for the Eagles in kicking five majors while Jack Darling, Chris Masten, Darren Glass, Sam Butler and Sharrod Wellingham were all superb for the Western Australian side.
West Coast will be out to keep their late season mini-winning streak on a roll when they host the Geelong Cats at Patersons Stadium next week while the Bombers will be desperate to hit back when they take on North Melbourne.
