Power to move through to the AFL post-season after narrow victory.
Port Adelaide has maintained its standing as last-quarter kings after beating the Gold Coast by 17 points at AAMI Stadium.
It kept the Power two wins clear in the top eight, but the club is still walking a finals tightrope after Carlton upset Richmond in Melbourne.
Port will play Carlton in the last round of the year and depending on results next week, it could shape as a play-off for taking part in September’s action.
Port Adelaide’s win could also come at a heavy price.
Port Adelaide will be sweating over the fate of Hamish Hartlett, one of its most talented and important players, after a second-quarter collision with Seb Tape ended with Tape being taken off on a stretcher and Hartlett facing the spectre of a suspension for making head-high contact.
Tape took no further part in the game. Hartlett will also be monitored closely after he came off with a suspected injury to his left shoulder, even though he returned to the ground.
