Rookie point guard drops 22 points on reigning champions.
Philadelphia 76ers rookie Michael Carter-Williams had a debut to remember on Wednesday night, as he helped his team to a 114-110 win over the Miami Heat.
The 22-year-old came close to a quadruple double in his regular season debut, with an impressive stat-line ensuring that there is a significant amount of excitement in Philadelphia about the talent that he possesses.
Carter-Williams had 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 9 steals to go with his 22 points, as the 76ers started the season with a confidence-boosting win over Miami who had beaten the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
Nevertheless, they were unable to repeat that level of performance with coach Erik Spoelstra disappointed with their effort and execution, and he will undoubtedly be expecting a reaction from his players next time out.
Meanwhile, the 76ers will see this as something to build on moving forward, with the likes of Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young all contributing double figures in scoring.
