Smith guides Jets to closely fought win in Atlanta.
The New York Jets sealed a 30-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, with quarterback Geno Smith leading the way with three touchdown passes.
Despite the hosts going ahead with a touchdown with less than two minutes remaining, Smith calmly guided the Jets to another victory as he directed a drive that set up Nick Folk’s 43-yard field goal on the final play.
The Jets now move to 3-2 for the season, and will be delighted that despite Smith’s recent troubles and error-strewn performances which have included 11 turnovers including eight interceptions, that the rookie quarterback came through when most required.
In contrast, the Falcons now fall to 1-4 with a third straight loss after being considered as genuine Super Bowl contenders at the start of the season.
They will now head into a bye week hoping to work on their game and come back and snap the losing streak, while they will also be likely boosted by the return of various injured stars.
