No. 2 seed Virginia appears to be vulnerable in the tournament despite advancing to the Round of 32 with a 79-67 win over No. 15 seed Belmont.
The Bruins were able to keep it close throughout most of the game as they trailed by just two points with 4:36 remaining in the second half, but the Cavaliers pulled away with a 15-7 run.
Guard Malcolm Brogdon was the hero for the Cavaliers as he scored 22 points while snagging five rebounds, and three other players also scored in double digits.
Meanwhile, Belmont was unable to get a balanced scoring attack going as many of their shots turned into air balls.
Guard Craig Bradshaw rose to the occasion with 25 points and nine rebounds while shooting 10-for-19 from the field, and he made 5-of-9 of his shots from the three-point line.
The Bruins also found themselves in foul trouble as they committed 22 as a team while the Cavaliers stayed disciplined enough to limit their total fouls to 10.
