Butler impressive in pre-season as he continues to wait on new contract…
It may only be pre-season, but Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler had a night to remember on Thursday and capped it off with a buzzer-beater to defeat the Atlanta Hawks.
Butler ended the game with 29 points, but with 01.5 remaining on the clock with the Bulls down 84-82, he received an in-bound pass from Kirk Hinrich for a catch-and-shoot opportunity which he buried.
Naturally, the competitiveness and determination isn’t quite at the same level in pre-season, but his game-winning three sent the United Center wild as his teammates congratulated him.
Meanwhile, as well as being nicknamed ‘Jimmy Buckets’ by Chicago-based commentator Stacey King, he now has another to add to the list after being crowned ‘Jimmy Jordan Butler’ after his impressive performance.
While that is all tongue in cheek, Butler will hope that after a display like the one he put on on Thursday night, he will have taken another huge step towards earning a new deal from the franchise.
The Bulls have until October 31 to agree on new terms, but coach Tom Thibodeau has insisted that he is confident it will get worked out and that all Butler needs to do is focus on his basketball. It appears the Bulls star was listening…
