Martin Skrtel has a moment he’d rather forget…
Liverpool stopper Martin Skrtel scored a terrible own-goal for Slovakia against Greece, thanks to his keeper Jan Mucha, who somehow let his tame back pass slip through his legs.
Slovakia lost the match 1-0, meaning that even with one match remaining, their chances of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil next summer are gone.
Skrtel has been in great form for the Reds this season, shining in Brendan Rodgers’ 3-5-2 formation after being left out in the cold for much of the previous campaign.
Liverpool fans will hope this unfortunate incident and the subsequent consequences on his national side do not dent his confidence.
