Half time: Stoke 0-1 Spurs.
Stoke City fans came to the Britannia Stadium tonight determined to derail Tottenham Hotspur’s title challenge.
Following Leicester’s failure to beat West Ham on Sunday, Spurs had the chance to close to within five point of the leaders, who remain odds-on favourites with Unibet to lift the Premier League trophy.
But Stoke were keen to be party poopers.
Potters fans booed every second of Tottenham possession in a bid to intimidate the visiting players.
However, those booing Stokies fell silent on nine minutes when Harry Kane broke the deadlock with a fine curling strike.
Kane, who had earlier spurned a chance created by Erik Lamela, collected the ball from Mousa Dembele on the left, before cutting inside and beating 39-year-old goalkeeper Shay Given at his far post.
Spurs should have doubled their lead shortly before the interval, but Christian Eriksen smashed a shot off the crossbar when one-on-one with Given.
