Pair have crossed paths previously, but not in a positive way.
Former Juventus and Italy striker Gianluca Vialli has revealed that he would “travel anywhere” to see Mario Balotelli and Francesco Totti link up for Italy.
Speculation is increasing that Totti could make a return to the international stage at the World Cup next year, following a sensational start to the season with Roma.
Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli has welcomed the idea, although has stressed that they will need to assess the 37-year-old’s fitness in the summer.
While Totti has also been hesitant in committing to a comeback, Vialli has been left excited at the prospect of seeing the veteran link up with Balotelli.
“I’d like to see at least once together in the national team Balotelli and Totti,” Vialli mused whilst working with Sky Italia this week as reported by Football Italia.
“I’d take a plane and travel anywhere to see them together in person.”
The pair have crossed paths before but as seen in the video below, it is perhaps an occasion that Vialli wasn’t thinking of when he made his statement.
Nevertheless, with Prandelli still searching for the AC Milan striker’s ideal partner up front, it remains to be seen whether or not Totti will be an option come June in Brazil.
