Mayweather interest in coaching future stars after retirement?
WBC welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather has posted a short video on his official Instagram account showcasing two youngsters who he believes will be future stars of boxing.
The 37-year-old is continuing his preparations for his next fight which will see him take on Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 3, but took a break from training to keep an eye on the two young stars.
Admittedly, they have some way to go before even proving that they will remain in boxing given their young age, but Mayweather isn’t shy in suggesting that they are destined for big things judging from the comment that accompanied the video.
The two youngsters competed hard in the video as others watched on shouting advice to control themselves, and it is likely to split opinion given that one of them is understood to be just six years of age.
Nevertheless, it is positive to see Mayweather taking a keen interest in “paving the way for the next generation”, and it remains to be seen whether or not his prediction becomes a reality.
