Local clubs Fortaleza and Ceara met at the redeveloped Estadio Castelao.
With the Fifa World Cup in Brazil now just 15 months away, the redeveloped the Estadio Castelao stadium is making great progress.
To show off the revamped stadium, which first opened in 1973 and now boasts a capacity in excess of 60-thousand, a match featuring local clubs Fortaleza and Ceara took place.
It was the first to be staged at a 2014 venue, and next summer the turf will be occupied by the likes of Neymar, Messi, and Ronaldo, and these small pockets of loyal fans will be joined by a global entourage hoping to witness sporting history.

It took 5000 workers more than two years to complete the renovation, and as sign of appreciation they will receive from FIFA two tickets for the first World Cup match to be played in the stadium.
The Estadio Castelao is due to stage a series of group games, one last 16 match and the first quarter-final in soccer’s greatest showpiece.
