Speaking ahead of the Blues game with Swansea in the Capital One Cup semi-finals, Benitez launched his tirade after hearing of accusations against him about his management style during his time at the San Siro.
It is common in the Inter dressing room to have posters of past coaches who have enjoyed success at the club and that included ones of Jose Mourinho, who had won the European Cup with the Italian giants just before Benitez’s arrival.
But apparently Benitez, who endured a tense rivalry with the Special One during their time together at Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, ordered the players to rip the ones of the Portuguese boss down.
Benitez reacted angrily when asked about the rumours.
‘He’s lying. He’s lying. He’s lying, just lying. Everything he has said is a lie. Simple. The pictures, it’s a lie. He’s a liar’ said the Spanish boss.
The former Liverpool manager has struggled to win over the Chelsea faithful since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo on an interim basis. He has failed to get striker Fernando Torres scoring and with Jose Mourinho reportedly ready to leave Real Madrid in the summer, calls are increasing for moves to be made to bring the Special One back to Stamford Bridge.
