Arsene Wenger had a sly dig at Chelsea’s playing style when he learned of the result of the Blues match with Manchester United following Arsenal’s FA Cup tie at the weekend.
Eden Hazard scored the only goal of the game against the Red Devils to send Mourinho’s men 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table in what was a particularly unadventurous and defensive display from the Champions-elect.
And following on from Arsenal’s hard-fought victory over Reading at Wembley stadium in the FA Cup semi-final, Wenger was quizzed over what he thought of the Blues result in the context of the title race.
After first admitting he didn’t know what the result was, Wenger was told the scoreline by the assembled press and with a shrug and a smirk said: “Chelsea won 1-0? The usual.”
It’ll certainly do little to help the famously poor relationship Mourinho and Wenger share with tensions reaching fever pitch this season when the two sides met at Stamford Bridge.
Angered over a challenged by Gary Cahill, Wenger confronted the Portuguese coach on the touchline, shoving him in the chest.
